TERACTOR LLC ("we", "us") provides the smartphone app "mamorin" (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the App.
The App is often used with photos and videos of children. For that reason, we designed it so that your information is never handed to anyone, including us.
Summary
- Photos, videos and face information are processed only on your device. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.
- No account is needed. The App never asks for your name, email address or phone number.
- The App contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs.
- The App only deals with where a face is located. It does not create facial feature data that could identify a person.
- Information that Apple or Google collects on their own through the operating system or their stores is outside this Policy and is governed by their privacy policies (Section 7).

This Policy applies to the iOS and Android versions of the App that we provide. How we handle your use of our website and emails you send us is described in our Privacy Policy for the website (Japanese).
2. Our approach: everything stays on your device
The App performs every step on your device: choosing photos and videos, detecting faces, blurring, exporting and saving. The App has no feature that sends your photos, videos or face information to our servers or to any other network.
The machine-learning model used to find faces is bundled with the App; it is not downloaded over the internet while you use the App. As a result, we neither receive nor store your photos, videos or face information.
3. Information the app handles on your device
To blur faces, the App handles the following information on your device. None of it is sent to us or to any third party.
| Information | Purpose | Where it is kept and for how long | Sent to us or third parties |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photos and videos you select | Loaded for blurring | The App reads the original file in your photo library. It never modifies the original. | No |
| Face positions (coordinates and size of detected boxes) | To decide which areas to blur and which to keep | In your device's memory and the App's private temporary storage while processing. They contain nothing that identifies whose face it is. | No |
| Work in progress and the blurred photo or video | Preview and saving | The App's private temporary storage. Removed when you uninstall the App. | No |
| Photos and videos you save | Saving to your album | Added to your photo library only when you choose to save. Metadata such as location is removed before saving. You manage and delete saved items yourself. | No |
| Settings (blur style, strength, etc.) | To reflect your choices | On your device only. Removed when you uninstall the App. | No |
How you choose photos, and permissions
The App uses the operating system's own picker (PHPicker on iOS, Photo Picker on Android) to let you choose photos and videos. The App therefore does not ask for access to your entire photo library and only touches the items you choose. On iOS, the App asks for the "add only" photo permission so it can save the result.
Face detection
To find where faces are, the App may use the detection model bundled with it and/or the face detection feature provided by the operating system on your device. Both run on your device, and their results never leave it.
4. Information we do not collect
The App does not collect or transmit any of the following:
- Contact details such as name, email address, phone number or postal address (there is no account, so none is requested)
- The content of your photos or videos, or copies of them
- Facial feature data (data usable for face recognition or identifying a person)
- Location (the App does not read your device's location, and any location embedded in a photo is removed when saving)
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA, Google Advertising ID, etc.) or other identifiers of your device
- Records of how you use the App
The App does not request permission to use your camera, microphone, contacts or location.
5. How the app treats faces
The App only deals with where a face is in an image (its position and size). It does not create or store facial feature data (so-called face-recognition templates) that could be used to tell people apart or to match a face to a person.
Selecting which faces to keep is based on your own taps and on visual cues in the video, such as a face's position, movement and clothing color. The App does not identify people by their facial features.
Under Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information, facial feature data detailed enough to authenticate a specific individual can qualify as an "individual identification code". The App is designed not to create such data.
6. Transmission, third parties and international transfers
- Transmission: The App has no feature that sends your photos, videos, face information or any other information to us or to third parties.
- Third-party disclosure, processors, joint use: Because we obtain no information through the App, we do not disclose it to third parties, outsource its handling or use it jointly with others.
- SDKs and ads: The App contains no SDKs for analytics, advertising or crash reporting (such as Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics or ad networks). The App shows no ads.
- International transfers: Since no information is transmitted, none is transferred outside Japan.
- Sharing: You can send a blurred photo or video to other apps or people using the operating system's share menu. That is sharing at your own initiative, and how the recipient handles it is governed by that app's or service's terms.
7. Information collected by the OS and app stores
When you download or use the App, Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) may collect information about you under their own mechanisms and policies (for example download information, device information, diagnostics, and analytics data that you allowed in your OS settings). We do not collect or control this information; it is handled under each company's privacy policy.
- Apple: Apple Privacy Policy
- Google: Google Privacy Policy
OS-provided crash reports
The App contains no crash-reporting mechanism of our own. However, only if you have agreed in your OS settings to share app diagnostics or crash reports with Apple or Google, anonymous diagnostic information from a crash (such as the state of the program at the time, your device model and OS version) may reach us through Apple or Google (iOS: TestFlight / App Store Connect; Android: Google Play Console).
We use this information only to fix bugs, and we do not try to identify individuals from it. The App does not add any photo, video or face information to these diagnostics. You can change your sharing choice at any time in your OS settings.
Relationship to store privacy disclosures
The contents of this Policy are kept consistent with the privacy information we publish in the stores (the App Store's "App Privacy" and Google Play's "Data safety").
8. Retention and deletion
Because we hold none of your information through the App, there is no data for us to retain or delete. On your device:
- Work-in-progress data and settings kept in the App's private storage are removed when you uninstall the App.
- Photos and videos you saved belong to your photo library. Please delete them with your photos app.
9. Security measures
To prevent leaks of your information, we take the following measures:
- A design that keeps information on your device (the App has no feature to send it)
- No third-party SDKs that communicate over the network (analytics, advertising, crash reporting, etc.)
- Requesting only the minimum permissions (no access to the whole photo library, camera, microphone or location)
- Removing metadata such as location from saved files
- Checking every App update to confirm that nothing contradicting the above has been introduced
10. Children and guidance for parents
- The App is intended for adults, such as parents and people working in childcare or education, who handle photos and videos of children. It is not directed at children.
- If you are under 18, please use the App with the consent of a parent or guardian.
- We do not collect personal information from anyone through the App, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
A request when using the App
The App helps you blur the faces of other people's children, but its accuracy is not perfect. Faces that appear small, faces in profile, or fast-moving scenes may be missed. After saving, and before sharing, please always play the result through to the end and check it.
If you publish or share photos or videos that show other people's children, please respect their privacy and portrait rights, for example by obtaining the family's consent.
11. Your rights (Japan, United States, EU/UK)
Japan
We hold no personal information about you through the App. For requests regarding information you send us by email, such as disclosure, correction or cessation of use, please follow the procedure in our website privacy policy (Japanese) and write to privacy@teractor.co.jp.
United States (COPPA and state laws)
We do not collect personal information through the App, including from children under 13. We do not sell or share personal information. If you are a parent or guardian with concerns about your child's information, contact privacy@teractor.co.jp.
EU, EEA and UK (GDPR)
We process no personal data through the App (data stays on your device and never reaches us).
For personal data we receive when you email us, we process it based on our legitimate interest in responding to your inquiry (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). You have the right to access, rectify, erase or restrict the processing of your data, to data portability, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, write to privacy@teractor.co.jp. We are located in Japan, which has received an adequacy decision from the European Commission.
12. Changes to this policy
- We may revise this Policy, for example when laws change or App features change.
- The revised Policy will be posted on this page with its last-updated date. Important changes will also be announced in the stores' update notes ("What's New" in the App Store and Google Play) and on our website.
- If we add any feature that collects or transmits your information, we will revise this Policy before that feature is offered and obtain your consent where required.
13. Contact
For questions about this Policy or how personal information is handled, contact:
